LOGISTICS
Early on, I was quickly able to see that there were many roles and ways to engage in the live event eco-system. I proceeded to identify all of the elements that spoke to me and sought out opportunities to grow. In early years, as a special projects manager for a private venue in Chelsea, NYC I balanced grasping the nuts & bolts of venue management and departmental change management with arranging unique and complex one-off events. From outdoor markets where I would develop social media strategy and facilitate partnerships with food partners to overseeing the art handling and guest experience for an exhibit feat. twenty-six visual artists from Cuba - this role was a masterclass in logistics and cultivating standard operating procedures.
CURATION
I started expanding on my logistical strengths in the live music space by first supporting the head of production for the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival in 2012. That year, Busta Rhymes brought out iconic surprise guests to 5,000+ devoted Hip-Hop heads.
Because I had a tendency to deliver detailed industry insights alongside my logistical POV, I was invited to become a part of three talent/production teams across Hip Hop, Indie Rock, and Electronic.

CREATIVE
The best parts of me push through in this space. From designing and executing the stage and room for Grammy-nominated duo Sofi Tukker’s nightclub tour to directing creative elements across productions and tours along the way - I will always be in my true alignment when I’m working with materials, artists, and everything in between.

Creative Direction: Young & Sick’s Bandana Design and Natalie Melendez’s Collage Work for BuzzFeed’s Kamp Kona Tour

STRATEGY
Moving across the landscapes of live experience and entertainment enlightened me to the key areas where innovation, leadership, and resources were needed the most. I saw where worlds were both disparate and overlapping - and most importantly, significantly impacting the people doing the work behind the scenes.
I implemented my research and training across corporate resilience, communication styles, org design, team development, HR, stakeholder relations, and learning & development.
🧱️ City/Region-Wide: Revamping annual public/private programming and department strategy for Downtown Ithaca’s business improvement district after a challenging renovation of the central pedestrian mall. I also managed extensive partnerships with the city of Ithaca and the Chamber of Commerce for 150+ annual events throughout the Finger Lakes region.
🧱️ Agency-based department development: As a founding member, I was uniquely positioned to steer and support the inception phase of this department by designing and facilitating advocacy, programs, policies, and strategies for the employee experience at the experiential marketing agency, CIVIC.

MENTORSHIP
Digesting, contextualizing, and sharing out what we learn from our experiences is something I deem critical to any industry - but I have always felt very strongly about the responsibility of creating space for, connecting with, and pouring into those who are the future of our industries in tangible ways. I have been a partner to some of my brilliant mentees for over a decade and I consider myself blessed to be surrounded by the future leaders of entertainment, production, and creative - we learn from each other every day. The frameworks and tools I have developed over the years in this space are the core inspiration for my studio’s intentions. Building Sparkhunting gives me the opportunity to steer even more talent and idea development at scale with expanded resources and support.
